Please keep in mind this post is meant for Halloween fun, not to be taken seriously.
In the spirit of Halloween I have decided to share my own spooky stories. Let me start by saying – yes I do believe in the supernatural to a certain degree (no not vampires and stuff but ghosts and demons). I believe in another spiritual world that can be filled with evil. However, do I believe I had contact with said world? No. This is just my experience with creepy things that are hard to explain. Things that make me believe there has to be something else out there. Things that left me feeling kind of freaked out, haha. However, some of these things can be logically explained since I grew up sickly as a kid.
Let’s start by mentioning…
If you have never heard of this or experienced it then count yourself lucky. It’s hard to really say what Sleep Paralysis is or even what the cause is. Yes, we understand that somehow we wake up after going to sleep and that we are paralyzed from the chemical melatonin that is suppose to keep us from moving. However, why do we have such scary feelings and images happen to us during this? Are they dreams coming to us while we are awake, disorienting us from reality? Is it because we are freaked out from being unnaturally awake so our minds play tricks on us? Or do we somehow see into another world that we can’t understand because our minds can’t make sense of it? There are so many theories and ideas on what it could possibly be, but the only thing we can all agree on is that it is damn right scary! I’m not going to go to much into detail on what it is because that could take forever! If your curious do a few google researches on it or check out tumblr with it, some people have some cool drawings about their experiences.
My scariest experience with this was when I was in Junior High. I was sleeping on my right side, facing the window in my room. To my back, was my door that leads to the hallway. All of a sudden I’m awake and I’m able to see the light glow from my window from the streetlights outside. However, I cannot move. The only thing I can do is move my eyes around a bit and breath. As if that isn’t scary enough, I start to feel like someone is watching me from behind. The entity is getting close and closer to me, as if it is trying to scare me. I’m trying to think rationally, just thinking in my head that if I can just turn around and see that nothing is there I will be okay.
I can’t though, because of the sleep paralysis. I’m starting to get more and more freaked out, feeling my heat beat go crazy. Then the worst part happens, and I feel a slight indentation on the side of my bed, as if someone had sat down on it. I want to scream, tell it to go awake, tell myself to wake up but I can’t. Then I just black out. I don’t know if it is from the fear or the fact that I finally fell back into a deep sleep.
When I woke up that morning I remember it vividly but don’t really know what to think about it. I have had plenty of scary experiences in that room but nothing as strong as that. Was it getting worse? Was it something to do with my illness? Was there something actually evil in my room?
I had been told by several friends and family members how they do not like sleeping in my room. I just thought they were crazy. I mean I slept there all the time and yeah it was kind of creepy at times but maybe it was just the location of the room. After that experience though, I was starting to have doubts.
My other strange events that happened in that room where much smaller but just as creepy. There was a time that every time I laid in my bed I would see lights under my door that lead to the hallway and hear whispering. I would think it was my mother up late, talking on the phone or watching TV so I would get up and head for the door. As soon as I opened the door the noise would stop and the hallway would be pitch dark. I would be confused but think nothing of it as I close the door and get back in bed, only to have it happen again.
Was a sleep walking a bit? Or falling asleep quickly and having vivid dreams? Or was there a demon messing with me? Don’t know, but it was annoying and creepy.
My last creepy experience was not too long ago, and it was at my grandparents house. I was falling asleep when I felt the presence of something else hop on my bed. It almost felt like a cat had jumped on the end of my bed. I was just like, oh just a kitty, and tried to ignore it as it made its way across the bed and over my legs. That is when realization hit me. We had no cats at my grandparents house! I sat up so quickly and turned on my light and saw… nothing. It took me a while to calm down. So I watched a bit of TV before tying to sleep again.
That one was weird because it really felt like a light animal had jumped on my bed and started walking. I was practically convinced that my cat from my house has gotten in my room again.
Luckily in my new home I haven’t had any spooky things happen. I don’t know if it has to do with my health and mental status or if I really was in a place that had bad vibes that made me sensitive to the supernatural. I will never know, but I really don’t like it – either way.
